Most health insurances allow a yearly visit for an exam and screening. If you’ve not seen your gynecologist this year, or maybe for a few years, take advantage of your benefits by scheduling your appointment before deductibles are renewed in January.
“We find that many patients save money if they get their annual exam in before the end of the year,” explains Ellen Paxson, office manager at the Women’s Health and Menopause Center (WHMC). “When patients have a deductible to meet and they have already met it completely or even partially, it makes good sense to get everything else done before the year ends.”
While you may think, “It won’t cost much for my exam – I can put it off,” waiting is unwise from a financial standpoint as well as a health standpoint. “Early diagnosis always offers the best chance for treatment to be most effective,” explains Shira Gordinier, D.O., a WHMC OB/GYN. “And if further screening or treatment is needed, it’s more likely you’ll be fully covered if you’ve already met your deductible for the year.”
Whatever your reasons, December is the perfect time to make an appointment with your WHMC physician. “We can get you in to see your doctor quickly – so you can start the New Year healthy,” explains Paxson.
